Difference Between Microblading and Powder Brows

Difference Between Microblading and Powder Brows

At Jodi Brown and Co, we specialise in permanent makeup. Since our eyebrows frame our faces, it is important that you make sure that they look their best. If you are wondering about microblading vs powder brows, then make sure to get in contact with us to discuss the best option for you. Microblading and powdered brows are both permanent solutions for sparse brows. We will get into the differences between microblading and powdered brows below, but if you would like to set up an appointment for permanent makeup, then reach out to us to find out more.

Microblading has become a very popular semi-permanent solution for thinning eyebrows for so many women all over the world. Microblading makes use of a needle in hand tool to create the appearance of eyebrow hairs which contributes to the illusion of much fuller brows. Individual hair strokes are delicately applied and designed to give the illusion of natural eyebrows. Microblading has both it’s pros and cons.  One of the pros is that microblading looks great immediately after being applied but unfortunately doesn’t last as long as powder brows.  Another downside to microblading is the scaring that can be left behind after your eyebrows have healed.  Because microblading requires micro cuts on the eyebrow (which is needed to create the individual hair stroke look), it can cause a lot of micro scaring in the eyebrow area which can leave the eyebrow looking patchy and even harder to coverup with future touchups. This is why we recommend to all of our clients to get powder brows done.

Powder Brow

Much like microblading, powdered brows is intended to provide the same full eyebrow look, however, the application is different to that of microblading. Powdered brows are done with either a machine or hand tool to achieve more on ombre look rather than individual hair strokes. After your powder brow treatment your eyebrows will look very dark, but will fade to your ideal colour within 2 weeks of your application.  The powder brow procedure is for individuals who prefer a softer makeup look and are best for people who have brow hair but is filled in with makeup. Which one will work for you?

Of course, every person is different, and just the same every person’s eyebrows are different too. Depending on your eyebrows state, we will be able to determine which semi-permanent eyebrow application will work best for you. To determine whether microblading or powder brow will be ideal for you, it is important that you make an appointment with us for us to discuss your skin type as well as assess the state of your eyebrows. Depending on the assessment and appointment, we will be able to determine just which application will be the better one for you. Call us today to set up an appointment with us.

How long does it last?

Just as the applications differ between powder brows and microblading, they are also intended to last different durations. Although both applications are semi-permanent and are intended to last for a long time, microblading can last anywhere between 2 and 3 years and can fade in a patchy way.  As apposed to powder brows that last between 3 to 5 years and fade in a more gradual way.  If you are interested in restoring your eyebrows to the way they looked back in your youth, then powder brows can be a great solution to achieve this.
